Lewis John Moir MacDougall is a Scottish film actor. He made his debut in Pan (2015)

MacDougall was brought up in Edinburgh, Scotland. His father is a retired banker. His mother died of from multiple sclerosis in 2013, shortly before filming A Monster Calls. Before his first film he had acted only in small parts at his local drama group, The Drama Studio, which specialised in improvised rather than scripted performances.

He attended an open audition for Director Joe Wright's film Pan, in Morningside, and although he was not cast as Peter, he was offered the role of Nibs. The film was released in October 2015. Even his pals at school didn?t realise what a big deal Pan was... ?Then the posters started appearing and my friends have been texting me pictures of them with my poster."

He also regards Jackman as a role model because of the way the actor treated cast and crew on set. During filming, he became friends with star Levi Miler and they became best mates and still keep in touch with each other by texting and on Skype. At the glitzy premiere, the two boys sat together. Lewis said: ?When we stood up at the end, there were loads of people taking photos. I knew it was all for Levi ? but it was really good fun.?

Lewis?s first day at Leavesden Studios, where Harry Potter was filmed, was also unforgettable. He added: ?It was like nothing I?d done before ? I hadn?t even seen a camera that big before. But Joe was really nice and told me to take my time. After my first couple of takes, I started to relax.?

In 2016, MacDougall starred in A Monster Calls, opposite Felicity Jones and Liam Neeson. In the film, a dark fantasy drama, he plays a boy whose mother is dying of a terminal illness, and who begins communicating with a tree monster seemingly living outside his house. He earned rave reviews for his performance as a child coping with his mother?s terminal illness, sadly, it?s a role he has already played in his real life offscreen.

?Three years ago my own mother passed away from multiple sclerosis,? MacDougall, 14, recently told PEOPLE. ?That helped me connect and understand and empathize what Conor was going through, although the two circumstances were different, and that helped me portray him correctly.?

He will co-star in the road trip drama Boundaries, opposite Vera Farmiga and Christopher Plummer, set for release in 2017, and is currently filming The Belly of the Whale.
