A boy (Erik Lindgren) of about nine years of age runs away from the orphanage he resides at and soon thereafter buddies up with a vagabond. The two grow close and earn a living by singing on street corners. Trouble starts when our little hero's older pal is accused of a robbery he did not commit; things grow even more tense when our protagonists accidentally stumble upon the loot.
This is Astrid Lindgren celluloid at its best, as well as one of the best films about friendship between the generations; easy to follow and highly recommended!
