Description A film that dominated early television searching for programs to fill a 24 hour schedule.
Originally titled "The Day They Gave Babies Away" this is a frontier story based on fact about a husband and wife who emigrate from Scotland to Wisconsin in the 1850's. They work very hard and become welcome citizens of their new town, Eureka and have six children. They prosper in the husband's boat building business.
But when their eldest boy is 12, tragedy strikes the family, and he is burdened with a terrible task of feeding and caring for his siblings.
Don't expect a "Waltons" or "Little House on the Prairie"... the original movie title will give you an idea where the story is going, but since it was seen by such a large TV audience through the years this little sleeper has become a beloved classic...
