While driving on a lonely road with his 14-year-old son Nick (Joseph Cross), a widowed writer Dennis Conway helps a young couple that crashed their classic car off the road. Dennis uses his van to tow the car back to the road and when Nick finds a duffel bag forgotten by the couple, they drive to Springsville to return the bag and spend the night in town.
The next morning Nick has an accident with a logging truck that breaks his leg and as they are forced to stay Nick develops a crush on Dr. Sophie Weston. During this time Dennis discovers that the dwellers do not get old, or sick, due to the water at the local spring. A dark secret is discovered during the hundredth birthday of the town, Dennis & Nick must flee for their lives.
