Born in Hampstead, Norman is from North London. He is the son of acclaimed director Ross Norman and former girl group Madasun member Vonda Barnes.
Woody Norman after wrapping the Netflix feature film The electric state, directed by the Russo Bros, was immediately hired for A24's feature Cmon Cmon from writer/director Mike Mills. The film, in which Woody stars opposite Joaquin Phoenix, premiered at Telluride to critical acclaim and screened at the New York Film Festival. Among the many accolades for his performance, Norman won the London Critics' Circle Award for Young British/Irish Performer and was nominated for both BAFTA's Supporting Actor and the Critics' Choice Award for Best Young Actor/Actress.
Recently, Norman can be seen in Amblin's The Last Voyage of the Demeter directed by Andre Øvredal, where he is bitten by Dracula, and in the Lionsgate thriller Cobweb. He was recently nominated for Best Actor in Cobweb by The Young Artist Academy 2023. Other film credits include Alexander Jeremy's The SpaceMan with Colin Farrell, Karl Golden's Bruno, Alfonso Gomez-Rejon's The Current War where he played Benedict Cumberbatch's son, and Justin Molotnikov's The Small Hand Woody recurred on BBC One's Poldark, Troy: Fall of the city, The war of the worlds, and Les Miserables mini-series. He also can be seen in Starz's The white princess opposite Jodie Comer and ITV's Peter and Wendy.
Woody started his modeling career at the age of 4. He worked for various fashion houses, including Burberry and Harrods. After a certain period of modeling, he found acting much more interesting and attended the Sylvia Young Agency.
Woody is an avid vinyl collector... "I love everything heavy metal, I love everything alternative, I love everything out of the mainstream. Not all mainstream music sounds the same, but, it gets boring after a while," says Woody.
