Appearances
At the age of 10, Mark Rendall innocently asked his parents if he could try his hand at acting. Coincidentally, at around the same time, the Cameron MacIntosh London touring production of the hit musical "Oliver" was holding open auditions for children. Mark's parents took him to the auditions, while preparing him for disappointment, as he had absolutely no acting or singing training. To everyone's surprise, Mark not only won the role of "Spider", one of Fagin's pickpockets, but also ended up regularly performing the lead role of "Oliver" as the understudy.
Mark's wonderful first time stage experience has led to a wide variety of movie and TV roles, including The Impossible Elephant (2001); Tales From the Neverending Story (2001), for which Mark received a 2002 Gemini nomination; the multi-award-winning Touching Wild Horses (2002) opposite Jane Seymour, for which Mark received a 2003 Young Artists Award nomination; Disney's Scream Team (2002) with Eric Idle; Court TV's Peabody award-winning true story, Interrogation of Michael Crowe (2002) (TV), for which Mark, playing Michael Crowe, received a 2004 ACTRA Award nomination for Outstanding Performance - Male; Don McKellar's dark comedy Childstar (2004), opposite Jennifer Jason Leigh, Eric Stoltz and Dave Foley; Spirit Bear (2004) with Ed Begley Jr and Graham Greene; NBC's mini-series Revelations (2005) opposite Bill Pullman and Natascha MacElhone; and Francois Girard's just completed Silk (2007).
Mark's voice is also well-known as he was not only the voice of Arthur (1996) for 3 seasons in the PBS animated series of the same name, but a lead voice in such animated TV series, King, Time Warp Trio 2005-2006 and Jane and the Dragon (2006). Off camera, Mark loves photography, billiards, playing guitar and singing, and hanging out with his older brother, David, an award-winning playwright and film-maker, artist and actor.
